WISC2024: Empowering Women in Sport

24 Nov 2023

The Women in Sport Congress 2024 (WISC2024) is back for its second biennial event, taking place from March 6th to March 9th, 2024, at the picturesque Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf in Sydney. This edition is breaking new ground by offering both in-person and virtual attendance options, ensuring a broader audience can participate in advancing the role of women in sports.

Originating in 2022 as a collaboration between the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Female Performance & Health Initiative (FPHI) and La Trobe University, the inaugural event at the Melbourne Cricket Ground brought together 300 participants. It covered diverse topics, featuring keynotes from experts like Dr. Kate Ackerman from the Boston Children’s Hospital.

WISC2024 aims to amplify the momentum, uniting global leaders, researchers, practitioners, coaches, and athletes. Partnering with five Australian Universities, the AIS FPHI will delve into five research themes, covering the unique physiology of female athletes, leadership, nutrition, recovery, interdisciplinary approaches, and translational research.

Beyond academic discussions, WISC2024 offers a rich social and cultural experience. From the Welcome to Country and gala dinner on International Women’s Day to networking opportunities, the event fosters connections and celebrates women in sports. The program also includes poster sessions, engagement with exhibitors, and interactions with sponsors.

The event unfolds at Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf, offering breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour. Registration are currently open, inviting enthusiasts, whether attending in person or virtually, to be part of this transformative celebration of women in sports.
