STEVE PALLAS | Founder & Managing Director

Steve Pallas is the founder and Managing Director of Sports Community. Sports Community encompasses a multi-media online support platform for grassroots sports club volunteers, as well as consulting services for government and peak sporting bodies including the likes Cricket Australia, Netball Victoria, ACT and NT governments and over 80 councils all around Australia.

Previously a successful financial services executive and CEO of the Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League, Steve’s passion for grassroots sport and his accumulated knowledge from working with all stakeholders in grassroots sport, since Sports Community’s incorporation in 2012, now places him as an expert in the field. He is in demand as a speaker, a research partner and as a trusted resource for the volunteers and stakeholders that drive Australia’s sports clubs.

SHONA PALLAS | Co-Founder & Business Manager


Shona is the co-founder of Sports Community, sharing husband Steve’s vision and passion for developing Australia’s best online and in-person resource for sports club volunteers.

Holding a Bachelor of Applied Science in Sports Coaching and Administration, Shona has more than 20 years’ experience in the grassroots sports scene, including three years as the president of a swimming club, and has been a regular guest speaker at international swimming conferences.


ASHLEA MCKINNON | Community Partnership Manager


Ashlea McKinnon is Sports Community’s Community Partnership Manager, and is responsible for the day to day coordination of Sports Community’s stakeholder relationships. Ashlea also liaises and maintains relationships with Sports Community’s clients in councils and peaks. She is dedicated to ensuring that Sports Community delivers the products and services that the company have committed to.

Her highly personable energy and expertise in relationship management makes her extremely effective at building new connections and strengthening the already existing ones at Sports Community. Ashlea is the face of Sports Community, and continually brings joy, laughter, and fun to not only our internal environment, but to everyone connecting with Sports Community.


ANDREW WALTON | Sports Consulting, Training & Volunteer Support


Andrew is a trailblazer of sports technology in Australia from relentlessly exploring new levels of engagement with community and governing bodies through the original concept in the development of web-based platforms to native mobile, live scoring and live streaming services of scale achieving commercial growth extending internationally into the UK, USA and Europe. In addition to this he has previously been involved in partnerships with Cricket Australia, Football Australia, Tennis Australia and more. Recent projects have extended into Big Esports and Disability Sport and Recreation.

He’s a country boy with values shaped from a multi-cultural heritage and a professional career in the steel and recycling industries before technology.

He has always had a deep involvement with sport from junior to the elite through playing and now ongoing coaching or governance support.


SUANNE WAUGH | Sports Consultant


Suanne Waugh is an experienced sports administrator who has worked with clubs, associations, state and national bodies for over 20years.  During this time she has worked with governance change, organisational rebranding, nationalising membership and communication databases, marketing, communications, managed websites and social media and trained club officials.  Suanne has a passion for sport and enjoys helping club officials achieve club goals and enjoy their volunteer experience. 

Suanne started her career as a Health Information Manager however fast realised that although administration was something she enjoyed, the sports industry was a better fit!  An AFL SportsReady traineeship proved the perfect springboard to launch a career into the sports industry.  Suanne is a netball tragic who still loves to get out on the court and occasionally brings home a premiership cup.  She is also the mum of three sporty children who keep the odometer clicking over in her car! 


EMILY DOWLING | Accounts Officer


Emily Dowling is an experienced accounts officer working closely with our external partners to assist in the provision of services to national and state sports organisations. Stemming from an AFL traineeship, Emily has a background in both accounts payable and receivable within the health and wellbeing sector. She continues to grow and develop her skills whilst holding a Diploma of Business Management, and currently completing her Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accounting and Finance.

Her passion for sport continues at home where she plays in several netball teams and has recently stepped back from her captaincy role within her local cricket club.


LISA GLIKFELD | Program Manager


Lisa Glikfeld has joined the Sports Community team as Program Manager. Her current project she is working on is the VICSWIM Summer Kidz Program for 2022. She has more than 15 years of experience in the aquatic and recreational industry managing many different swim schools across the large council run centres in addition to the private swim school sector. During this time she has developed swimming programs for infants and toddlers, children of all ages and all abilities right through to adults with a strong understanding of the landscape of aquatic education and good knowledge of the principles of aquatic program development. Her leadership roles have provided her with the responsibility of recruitment, induction, training and performance of the aquatic teaching staff including ongoing review and direct supervision of the team providing a fun and professional environment.



ISABELLA SERRANO | Digital Marketing Coordinator


Isabella is Sports Community’s Digital Marketing Coordinator and oversees all social media and communication platforms used by Sports Community. Isabella is responsible for delivering our knowledge and expertise to our community and stakeholders. Isabella strategises our digital pathway to achieve our mission of helping grassroots clubs succeed.

Having started her career with Belgravia Leisure since the beginning of 2021, Isabella also holds a Bachelors Degree in Marketing from RMIT University. Isabella is revolutionising and developing our long term digital strategy to improve assistance and support to Aussie sporting clubs, as well as our 3rd party organisations. In addition to this, she designs Sports Community’s digital campaigns for advertising partners, and is heavily involved in campaigns at a club level.
