Australia is a water loving nation! Whether it’s supporting out Olympic Swimmers, enjoying time with friends at the beach, or rotating between the pool and backyard cricket at a family barbeque, Australians love being around water.
But being a water loving nation isn’t without its risks. That’s why every Summer since 1976, Aquatics Recreation Victoria have delivered their VICSWIM program.
VICSWIM is a three-week swimming program that runs statewide during the first three weeks of January, with a simple goal: to teach kids water safety and swimming skills in an affordable and accessible way. And the best part is, it’s not too late to get involved in the fun!
The 2024 VICSWIM program kicks off on January 2nd, with more than 4,000 kids hitting the water at more than 120 venues. By the end of the program, VICSWIM teachers will have delivered programs to more than 15,000 kids at 170 venues in the farthest reaches of the state. Venues range from Casterton in the west, to Mildura and Swan Hill in the north, right through to Gippsland in the East and a wealth of venues in the city and inner suburbs.
The VICSWIM program allows parents to book their kids in to one, two or three weeks of lessons, for just $35 per week (additional venue fees may apply). Kids aged 4-12 can attend and parents can book a program based on their current swimming skill level.
Although week one is already underway, the VICSWIM team has lessons available at most venues in weeks two and three of the program. Don’t miss this opportunity to sign your kids up for a lifesaving program.
