Local Para Champions program

The Local Para Champions program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-24 participating in state, national or international championships for athletes with a disability.

The LPC program aims to:

  1. Financially support young athletes with disabilities competing at elite or sub-elite levels.
  2. Assist families by removing financial barriers to their children’s sports participation.
  3. Recognize the crucial role of support staff in enhancing the experience for young athletes with disabilities.

Eligibility criteria:
• Be turning 12 to 24 years of age in the same calendar year as the nominated
championships.
• Be an Australian citizen or have been granted permanent resident status and be residing in
Australia.
• Be a participant in an official event, division or competition open only to athletes with a disability.
• Must incur out-of-pocket expenses equal to, or greater than, the grant amount they are
eligible to receive.
• Must not receive a Local Sporting Champions grant to attend the same event or competition.

Applicants may receive a maximum of two grants in the same allocation year (1 June 2023 – 30 April
2024) for attending either one state or national championships and one international competition; or two different international competitions.

Grants range from $750 to $1,000.
