The Local Para Champions program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-24 participating in state, national or international championships for athletes with a disability.
The LPC program aims to:
- Financially support young athletes with disabilities competing at elite or sub-elite levels.
- Assist families by removing financial barriers to their children’s sports participation.
- Recognize the crucial role of support staff in enhancing the experience for young athletes with disabilities.
Eligibility criteria:
• Be turning 12 to 24 years of age in the same calendar year as the nominated
championships.
• Be an Australian citizen or have been granted permanent resident status and be residing in
Australia.
• Be a participant in an official event, division or competition open only to athletes with a disability.
• Must incur out-of-pocket expenses equal to, or greater than, the grant amount they are
eligible to receive.
• Must not receive a Local Sporting Champions grant to attend the same event or competition.
Applicants may receive a maximum of two grants in the same allocation year (1 June 2023 – 30 April
2024) for attending either one state or national championships and one international competition; or two different international competitions.
Grants range from $750 to $1,000.
