New Coaches Ready to Blast Off This Cricket Season

26 Sep 2023

Six newly trained coaches are ready to hit the ground running this summer as Sports Community and Cricket Victoria continue to expand their Woolworths Cricket Blast school programs.

Held at St.Kilda’s Junction Oval, Cricket Victoria lead the training program. In conjunction with Cricket Australia and Sports Community, a comprehensive training program, including coaching and communication skills as well as child safety protocols, was delivered to a team of new coaches.

It is another step forward for Sports Community, who have been are delivering Woolworths Cricket Blast programs in schools beginning at the start of term four. The programs encourage participation and creating a positive environment for primary school kids to learn the basics of the sport. Delivered state wide, and in additional areas across Australia, the program is targeting culturally and linguistically diverse schools and aims to grow participation rates for girls.

The program will assist local clubs in their recruitment drives for senior and junior players, as well as the Woolworths Cricket Blast Program, offering a game based participation program for young participants.

At its heart, the participation programs aim to foster a love for the game in young players, and develop their basic skills in the game, and there’s no better time to spark an interest in the game than before a big summer of cricket.

Sports Community will continue to expand their programs nationwide, and encourage all interested applicants to contact our team via email: ashlea@sportscommunity.com.au

Coaches wishing to upskill ahead of the upcoming season should look at Sports Community’s coaching skills and development webinar, on September 27th, hosted by former NBL Coach Simon Mitchell (free for Sports Community Members).
