Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the world with over 4.8 million players in the USA and 70 nations embracing the game. Pickleball is played similar to tennis but on badminton sized courts with a low net, paddles rather than racquets and special balls designed for the game.” Pickleball is easy to learn and hard to master”; it is a FUN social activity that offers good exercise without putting too much strain on the body.

Pickleball was first introduced in Australia in 2016 and the sport has grown exponentially ever since. There are approximately 10,000 Australians now playing pickleball with clubs and State Associations across the country. Pickleball will be played at the upcoming Pan Pacific Masters Games on the Gold Coast in November.

 

The 2022 Australian National Championships were held in Brisbane at the beginning of October. There were over 450 players making this the largest pickleball event to be held in the Southern Hemisphere to date.

 

Noosa Pickleball Club was one of the first to incorporate back in 2019. Club members have successfully competed at all levels in local, regional, State and National tournaments. At this year’s National Championships Noosa Pickleball Club members received 4 GOLD, 8 SILVER and 8 BRONZE medals in 20 different events.
