Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program

Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program

Grants - Open grants, National Grants

The Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program grant is ongoing until notified otherwise.

Funding allocations have been calculated in a similar way to how the Roads to Recovery Program and the road component of the Financial Assistance Grants works.

The Australian Government announced a new $500 million Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI Program).

Overview

This program will support local councils to deliver priority local roads and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

This formula takes into consideration road length and population and is based on recommendations of Local Government Grants Commissions.

Eligible Funding Recipients are required to nominate project(s) they plan to undertake with LRCI Program funding by completing a Work Schedule – Project Nomination form. A separate form must be completed for each project or group of small projects.

To be considered an Eligible Project, a project needs to be additional to a Council’s existing work plan for 2020-21.

The Department has not specified a point in time for when a work plan would be considered an ‘existing work plan’, but an approved plan that was in place before the announcement of LRCI Program would be considered ‘existing’.
