Levelling the playing field grants program (TAS)
Grants - Open grants, TAS Grants
The Tasmanian Government is investing $10 million over two years to the new Levelling the Playing Field Grants Program to upgrade sports facilities for girls and women.
The Levelling the Playing Field Grants Program will give priority to facilities used for football (AFL) and cricket across Tasmania due to the significant increase in female participation for both sports. Grants will be provided to support building new or upgrading existing facilities to support female participation, including change rooms, lockers, toilets, shower facilities and other amenities.
Applications with matching dollar-for-dollar funding from facility owners, such as councils, and those with additional co-funding from the relevant sporting codes, will be considered more favourably.
Funding will be distributed evenly across two rounds in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
The program will provide grants between $15,000 and $1 million per project. This is to provide for both the building of new facilities for women and girls or the upgrading of existing facilities at grounds across the state.
The program is open to local councils and sporting organisations. Applications from sporting organisations must be submitted through their relevant State Sporting Organisation.
The program will be managed over two stages. The first stage invites expressions of interest before moving to the second stage, which is a full application and will be for selected projects only.
Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:
- Demonstrated need for funding
- Organisational capacity to deliver the project
- Value for money
