Where do we start the strategic planning process?
There are many different ways to undertake the strategic planning process but one of the key considerations is how to minimise the time volunteers are required to contribute while maximising the value of the planning process.
The planning process which will suit most, if not all, Clubs involves the following four steps:
Step 1 – Stakeholder consultation
Step 2 – Formal planning process
Step 3 – Members and key stakeholders review and sign off
Step 4 – Objective implementation, management and DELIVERY!
Before you actually commence the planning process it is a good idea to answer two key questions:
- Who is responsible for co-ordinating the planning process and delivering the final plan to the committee and members? An individual, a sub committee or a third party outsider?
- How long into the future will the plan set goals for? Three years or will some larger goals be five to ten years?
