Webinar training for staff of Councils and Peak Sports Bodies

14 Feb 2024

Why did we create this training?

Staff working directly with community sports club volunteers are getting inundated with queries and requests for information, help and support. To help to fill these needs, Sports Community has created the Staff Development Training Series.

Volunteers are asking about an ever-increasing range of topics from club governance, complaints management, volunteer and participation recruitment and retention, fundraising and marketing just to name a few of the areas.

Sports Community’s Staff Development Training Series has been developed to give you, your staff and your colleagues the information you need to help and support your community clubs and their volunteers.

The webinar series will introduce attendees to the best practice, research or information available. After each session, we will provide you with great case studies, practical examples, resources and templates which you can then use to empower your volunteers and their clubs.

Who should attend?

Anybody working with and supporting community sports but participants are generally:

  • Local council staff
  • State and Territory Government Sport and Recreation Staff
  • Club and policy development staff from State and National sporting bodies
  • Staff from Associations, Leagues and Competitions
  • University Sports – Club Development Staff
  • Anybody wanting to understand the issues faced by club volunteers and how to deal with them.

What else is included?

The Staff Development webinar series has 9 sessions, but also includes:

  • A workbook and notes for each session prior to the session so you don’t need to take notes.
  • Live online chat during the session allowing you to build relationships with your peers around Australia.
  • Recordings of each session within 3 working days.
  • Ongoing support from the great Sports Community Staff.
  • After each session, you will receive additional information relating to the topic. This includes templates, checklists, links to additional Resources and specific Sports Community podcasts. These explore each topic in a practical sense, highlighting great case studies and interviews with clubs who have successfully undertaken the topics at hand.

How does webinar training work?

From the comfort of your desk, lounge room or anywhere else with an internet connection you will join an online presentation with your peers from around the country and maybe even around the world.

Each session is based on the latest research and will introduce participants to the latest resources, tools and best practices in volunteer management and support.

While listening to the presentation you will most likely exchange ideas, thoughts and opinions with other participants using the online chat functionality with each session finishing with a live Q+A with the presenter with your questions.

What if I miss a live webinar?

No problem, recordings of each webinar are circulated within three working days of each session.
